Erskine Beveridge wrote two books on the Hebrides, _North Uist: its
archaeology and topography (1911)_ with 150 plates (pictorial, not
geological!) and _Coll and Tiree_ (1903) with 77 plates. He was born
c.1850, so I imagine he is no longer alive. I have a vague idea that his
papers might be in the Scottish Record Office. You could also try the
Commission for Ancient Monuments of Scotland, as they have a large
photographic archive. He may also have written a book on Barra, but we
don't have it in our library if he did.
