COMITATUS
A JOURNAL OF MEDIEVAL AND
RENAISSANCE STUDIES

Submissions are invited to _Comitatus_, a journal
devoted to publishing new scholars (either working
toward doctoral degrees, or having completed such work
within the previous three years). Of particular interest
are articles with a pronounced intredisciplinary emphasis
on any topic medieval or Renaissance history, literature,
theology, philosophy, the sciences, philology and the fine
arts. We also seek unpublished, original translations of
culturally or historically interesting works. Submissions
should be no more than 30 pages in length, including notes,
and should follow _The Chicago Manual of Style_.

-- Fragmentation and Reconstruction: Images of
the Female Body in _Ancrene Wisse_ and the Katherine
Group

-- The Art of Forgery: The Sermons of Ademar
of Chabannes and the Cult of St. Martial of Limoges

-- Visionary Science in _Purgatorio_ XVII and
_Paradiso_ XXX

-- Mystic Self: Margery Kempe and the Mirror
of Narrative

-- Narrative Treason and Sovereign Form in
Chretian de Troyes's _Clig'es_

and reviews of:
Farhad Daftary, _The Assassins Legends: Myths of the Isma'ilis_;
Stephen Bensch, _Barcelona and Its Rulers, 1026-1291_;
Steven Justice, _Writing and Rebellion: England in 1381_.

**DEADLINE**: February 1, 1996
