Does anyone know about 4 percent consols in the second half of the 18th
century? It is my understanding that consols stood at 3 percent
throughout that period, yet I have a document-- an English will from the
1770s-- that refers to investments both at 3 percent and 4 percent. Can
someone shed some light on this, and/or give me a reference to consult?
Thanks,
Joanne Lafler
