'Brit' or even 'West Brit' is also used in Ireland to refer pejoratively to
the Anglo-Irish, with the implication that they are more British
(though not perhaps English) than Irish. And as an addendum, the more
widespread term for the British in Australia is 'Pom' or 'Pommy' which
has similar connotations to 'Brit' but is perhaps slightly more
pejorative than affectionate.
