I would agree with Dan Szechi on Cameron's book: a great instructor's
resource, but above the heads of undergraduates on this side of the Atlantic.
A couple of people have recommended De Lamar Jensen's book, but I'd urge
taking a look at Lewis Spitz *Renaissance and Reformation Movements Vol. II:
the Reformation,* which is not to be confused with his *Protestant Reform-
ation.* Not surprisingly, the book by Spitz is particularly strong on Luther
and the north German situation, but it is generally good on the magisterial
reformation; my students have found it a lively read. Hillerbrand's reader
is nice, but unfortunately does not include Muntzer's "Sermon Before the
Princes" or any of the Marburg Colloquy, both of which are great primary
sources for undergraduates. The Muntzer sermon can be found in Michael G.
Baylor, ed., *The Radical Reformation,* (Cambridge, 1991), and the colloquy
in Donald Ziegler, ed., *Great Debates of the Reformation* (Random House, I'm
not sure of the date).
One problem you may encounter is with periodization. You gave a terminal date
of 1648, as I recall, and neither Cameron nor Spitz go that far. Nor does
Jensen, I think, although I could be wrong there.
Good luck!
