My students enjoyed Merry Wiesner's _Women and Gender in Early Modern Europe_,
which covers England as well as the continent, and has several chapters deal-
ing directly with religious/spiritual matters. It is published in Cambridge
UP's 'new approaches to European history' series. Wiesner also concludes each
chapter with a lengthy bibliographic essay, which students found quite useful
when developing term paper topics.
