Since Admiral Keppel *reduced* Goree in 1758, perhaps
you might also be interested in items printed slightly
earlier than 1800-1815: Lindsay, John. A voyage to the
coast of Africa in 1758 containing a succinct account of
the expedition to, and the taking of the island of Goree,
London, 1759 (ESTC T052636; this is illustrated); an
undated anonymous work: Four excellent new songs. I. The
taking of Goree, or, brave British boys (ESTC T183004);
The Public General Act, 23 George III c.65, legislation
which apparently repeals an earlier act repealing the
vesting of the forts of Senegal in the company of merchants
trading to Africa, London, 1783 (ESTC N058306); and
Adanson, Michel's Histoire naturelle de Senegal, which
was translated into English in 1759 (ESTC T088426 and
N048535).
