Mark Kishlansky's point about the outrageous prince increase in Laslett's
_World we have Lost_ is an excellent one. Do Macmillan Publishers have an
e-mail address to which we could send our protests about this rip off,
compared to which the behaviour of baseball owners and players seem
models of fiscal self-restraint.

My students were charged $32.50 for USED copies of THE WORLD WE
HAVE LOST by our campus and local bookstores at the beginning of
this semester (I note that my copy of the 1965 1st edition has the
price $2.45 printed on the cover).
