Many thanks for the 2,121 replies we received to our
nonscientific Edupage survey asking you to whether you agreed
with the statement: "My personal everyday life has been made
substantially more satisfying because of information technology."
We were quite aware that Edupage readers are not representative
of the general population, but we wanted to see if those highly
educated, computer-savvy citizens of the Net had any "second
thoughts" of the kinds expressed by a number of current critics
of technology. Well, for the most part, people who use the
technology are "happy campers." The survey results: 56%
strongly agreed with the statement, 31% generally agreed, 9%
generally disagreed, and 4% strongly disagreed. Many of your
votes were accompanied by interesting comments -- a selection
from which will appear in a forthcoming issue of our print
magazine, Educom Review. For information on subscribing to
Educom Review, send mail to offer@educom.edu.
