Professor in Classics. She/he should be able to teach Greek,
Latin, Ancient History, and Classical Literature in English.

The Department of Economic History at the London School
of Economics has two job openings. These are tenure track
"lecturer" posts (assistant/associate professor). One is
for a "lecturer in economic history with special reference
to modern Asia, including the Middle East". The second is
for a "lecturer in economic history with special reference
to modern Continental Europe". The department is the
largest centre of economic history in terms of research and
graduate teaching in Britain.

7) 7 Positions: History

ANNOUNCEMENT OF NEW ARMY HISTORIAN POSITIONS

The Headquarters, United States Army Reserve Command (USARC), announces the
establishment of seven (7) new professional historian positions on the staff
of the Commanders of the newly organized U.S. Army Regional Support Commands
(RSCs). These staff historians (entitled Command Historians) will be
responsible for maintaining the institutional memory of their command and
for ensuring the use of historical information, insights, and perspective in
the decision-making process. The positions are career or career conditional
appointments in the Civil Service at the GS-12 level (salary ranges: $42,984
to $55,877). Specialization in military history is desirable, but highly
qualified candidates with specializations in closely related areas of
history will be considered as well.

Qualification requirements call for experience and demonstrated ability in
professional historical teaching and writing, along with education and
training comparable to that expected for a faculty appointment in history at
a university or college. It is expected that a position vacancy announcement
for all seven positions will be open around mid-summer, with applications
accepted soon after. The actual selections will be made by RSC Commanders
and are projected for completion by 30 September.

Plans are underway to hire Command Historians for the RSCs located in the
following cities: (1) Fort Totten, NY; (2) Oakdale, PA; (3) Birmingham, AL;
(4) North Little Rock, AK; (5) Wichita, KS; (6) Fort Snelling, MN; and (7)

History: American History/Literature. St. Andrews Presbyterian

Assistant Professor level with the option of conversion to a
tenure-track position the following year in the field of
post-1865 American History and literature beginning August 30,
1995. Ph.D. in American History or American Studies required
with a Master's Degree in American literature highly
desirable. Survey courses in American history, upper level
courses in speciality area, and additional teaching duties in
American literature will be required. Candidates must have a
