Dear Jeanne,

Ellis' Tudor Frontiers and Noble Power is supposed to be out from OUP at any
moment. Steven Ellis does have several other works on connections between the
sixteenth century borderlands which may interest you in the meantime. Do you
have his Pale and the Far North: Government and society in two early Tudor
borderlands and his two articles, Crown,Community and Government in the english
Territories, 1475-1575," History 1986; "Not Mere English," History Today 1991,
I think. Jane Dawson also has two excellent articles, one in History 1989 and
another in Scotland and England, 1286-1815, ed Roger Mason (Edinburgh, 1987).
My "Problem of Ireland in Tudor Foreign Policy, 1485-1603 (Boydell, 1994) also
deals with the connections between England, Scotland, and Ireland, especially
in the perod 1547-1572.

I hope this is helpful.

Best wishes,
Bill Palmer
