I was rummaging through foreign library catalogues the other evening when
I cam across a new book(?) by Steven G. Ellis ( of University College
Galway fame ) which was published this year by Oxford. Does anyone know
anything about it? Or know where I could find a review?
In a similar vein I'm presently absorbing Gerard Hayes-McCoy's " Scottish
Mercenary Forces in Ireland" and was wondering if anything has been
published since ( by anyone other than Dr. Ellis ) that is on a similar
vein or explores the same form of connection between medieval/early modern
Scotland and Ireland.
Many thanks...
Jeanne
PS. for that matter is anyone out there familiar with the methods used at
UCG to drum history into the heads of its students? I shall be venturing
there as a visiting student for next year and am wondering what to brace
myself for.
