Chapters in 15th-Century English History
Sponsored by the Richard III Society (American Branch)
Co-Sponsored by the Departments of History at the University of Illinois
at Urbana-Champaign and Ohio University
April 29-May 1, 1995
on the campus of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

Many casual students of history today and most studetns of past generations
thought of the fifteenth century in English history as a time when English
folk had forgotten what was good for them politically, religiously,
legally, and in most other ways. Such a viewpiint has become increasingly
less tenable as researchers delve more deeply and with greater sensitivity
into what was truly taking place in fifteenth-century England. In the
pursuit of a fuller understanding of the period, a group of North American
and British scholars will gather at the University of Illinois at
Urbana-Champgaign from 29 April through 1 May 1995 to exchange information
and present papers, with Professor Ralph A. Girffiths of the University
College of Wales, Swansea, presenting as a keynote address "The Provinces
