Editor Needed for The Historian

Phi Alpha Theta is seeking a new editor and host institution for _The
Historian_, commencing January 1, 1996, for a six-year term.

The application must include:

1. a letter from the proposed editor indicating his/her appreciation of
the journal's wide readership (15,500), high scholarly standards (referee
process), and ongoing comitment to global historical coverage (beyond US
history);

2. a letter from the chair of the history department listing the entire
regular faculty and their field(s) of specialization and expressing
departmental cooperation with the editor;

3. a letter from the dean or other adminstrative official attesting to the
institution's six-year financial comitment to the journal's editorial
office.

The application is due March 1, 1995. Please submit it to Professor Gordon
M. Bakken, Chair of the Search Committee, Phi Alph Theta Headquarters, 2333
Liberty Street, Allentown, PA 18104-4999. Finalaists will be interviewed
at the Organization of American Historians meeting in Washington, DC, from
March 30 to April 1, 1995.
