In regards to Tudor-Stuart religious pamphlets, there is the
Martin Mar-Prelate controversy discussed by Robert McKerrow in
the collected "Works" of Thomas Nashe. You might also check
Keith Thomas' "Religion and the Decline of Magic" (London, 1971)
and the older Louis Wright "Middle-Class Culture in Elizabethan
England" (Ithaca, 1958). The full title of Bernard Capp's book
is "English Almanacs 1500-1800. Astrology and the Popular Press"
and deals only marginally with popular religion.
