It is a little offbase with regard to "popular piety", but Jerome
Friedman's, _The Battle of the Frogs and Fairford's Flies_, would provide
your students with plenty of food for thought on what exactly "popular
piety" was. Likewise Bernard Capp's book on Almanacs whose title eludes me.
