Hi, Barry. An excellent place to start is Tessa Watt's
_Cheap Print and Popular Piety, 1550-1640_ (available in paperback
from Cambridge UP). See also Peter Lake's article on murder
pamphlets in a collection of essays on culture and politics
in Stuart England edited by Kevin Sharpe and Peter Lake (published
by Macmillan in the UK, I think, and Stanford here).
