1) Position: European and Asian History

Stephens College
A College for Women

Located in Columbia, Mo., Stephens College is a four-year
comprehensive college for women with programs in (our schools:
Arts; Business and Professional Studies; Liberal Arts and
Sciences; and Continuing Education. The College enrolls
approximately 1,000 students in its residential and adult
degree programs.

Faculty openings are for August 1995. Unless otherwise
indicated, faculty positions are entry level, tenure track,
with a teaching load of 4 courses (12 credits) per semester
and an advising load of approximately 12 students with
additional opportunities to teach in Continuing Education.
Candidates must have a demonstrated commitment to teaching,
advising, scholarship and institutional participation.
Demonstrated teaching experience preferred. Preference will be
given to candidates who can incorporate scholarship by and
about women and ethnic minorities in their courses. Stephens

2) Position: History
Institution: Bowling Green State University
Location: Ohio

History: International History of Modern Europe. Pending final
budget approval, the Department of History at Bowling Green
State University seeks to hire a tenure-track assistant
professor in modern European History with a specialization in
the history of modern European international relations.
Candidates should demonstrate a research interest in the
history of relations among European institutions and/or
economic/political systems, be able to teach courses in modern
Europe and European international relations, and be able to
participate fully in the Department's MA/Ph.D. program in
Policy History. Ph.D. required. Salary and benefits

4) Position: History

Location: Minnesota

History: St. Cloud State University Fixed-Term Position in
Ancient and Medieval History. SCSU invites applications for a
fixed-term, assistant professorship, contingent on funding, to
begin September 1995. The successful candidate will teach
survey courses in ancient civilizations and upper-division
courses in ancient and/or medieval history. Opportunity to
teach courses in Middle Eastern History. Ph.D. required. Must
have strong preparation in either or both ancient and medieval
history. Interest in one or more of the following appreciated:
material culture, cultural history and global history.
Evidence of demonstrated ability to teach effectively and of

Western and Central Europe during the 18th and 19th centuries.
This is a tenure-track position at the level of Assistant or

Location: New Zealand

History: New Zealand, University of Canterbury, Lecturers in
History. Applications are invited for two continuing (tenured)
positions of Lecturer in the Department of History. The
minimum qualification on appointment is the Ph.D. degree or
equivalent. Some teaching experience and a proven research

22) Position: Coordinator (History)
Institution: CTI Centre for History, Archaeology and Art History
Location: Scotland

A graduate in history or a related subject with experience
of research or teaching and also of computing is required
to join this national centre funded by the HEFCs' Computers
in Teaching Initiative. The Coordinator will encourage use
of computers in history teaching by advising, informing
and teaching academics about software, data and methods.
