You should look at Tessa Watt's book on cheap print and religion in
the period (exact title escapes me just at the moment but it came out
a few years ago from CUP); Margaret Spufford's _Small Books_ which
has a chapter on 'godlies'; and for the earlier period, Eamon Duffy's
_Stripping of the Altars_.
