Cromwellian sources

You ask for information about sources on Cromwellian Ireland here. I fear that
Belfast may well be a bit sparse if your student wants primary sources; QUB
and the Linenhall library were both founded more than a century after Cromwell,
and in any case Belfast was just a small village in 1650. There should be
plenty of secondary sources in QUB, the Linenhall library and the University of
Ulster at Jordanstown.

Dublin will certainly be a better bet, although the main source of archives
was unfortunately blown up in 1922. Try Trinity College, Marshs Library, the
National Library and the Royal Irish Academy. Trinity can be a bit obstructive
about allowing strangers in to browse - make sure that your student has an
authorisation from you. The Royal Irish Academy is undergoing extensive
renovation at the moment, but my information is that it will be backto normal
by the summer.

I am sorry I cannot be more specific, but I am no expert on the 17th century!
