When I was a graduate student at the University of Wisconsin
(Madison) in the early /60's, the main university library had a fairly
large special collection that had been either purchased or donated for
a (if I remember correctly) by then dufunct (or perhaps never actually
established) Institute of Irish Studies.

You might want to contact the library director there to see
whether the collection still exists and, if so, what its contents are.
