An archaeological dig at a farmstead near Verona, Wisconsin has unearthed a
few pieces of English china from a cistern. The farmstead was inhabited for
only ten years around 1851. The pottery was made by J & G Meakin in
Staffordshire. There is a Meakin Pottery in Staffs. today, but they know
nothing about this earlier company. Does anyone have any information I
could pass on to the diggers? They are especially interested in
discovering the dates of export (and why a Wisconsin farmstead would have
such nice china.
