I am editing Anne Killigrew's (1660-1685) work. I did give the
quotation, actually. She is speaking, in an epigram, of a man named
Posthumus not being afraid of Ixion's Wheel, or thunder etc., but
turning white when he hears "of the laws newly enacted 'gainst murder,
rapine and incest." (That may not be exact order--am away from my
materials.) I am bound to find out what she may be speaking of,
but this has proven to be a much more difficult "find" than expected. I
have Holdsworth's work (2 vols), and find nothing definitive there,
alas. Hope the additional info nudges somebody!! Many thanks to you
and your subscribers for any and all help.
