Institution: Fort Hays State University
Location: Kansas

FHSU is a comprehensive regional university with an enrollment
of approximately 5,800 located in Hays, Kan., a community of
18,000 midway between Denver and Kansas City on Interstate 70.
Medical and educational facilities are superior. Lakes and
recreation areas are easily accessible.

DEPARTMENT OF HISTORY_Chair_The department has seven full-time
faculty and 116 majors in the B.A. and M.A. programs.
Candidates must hold the Ph.D. in history and the rank of full
professor or be qualified for promotion. Commitment to
diversity and working in a multicultural setting highly
desirable. Successful candidates should have background in
administration, graduate studies, ethnic-diversity issues, and
grant writing experience. Teaching field should include modern
world history, Third World, and 19th and 20th century Europe.
The chair is required to teach two courses per semester and
one course during summer session. Salary range

7) Position: History Teaching Fellowship
Institution: Phillips Academy
Location: Massachusetts

Phillips Academy, an independent national and international
boarding and day high school for 1200 able college-bound
students, maintains high academic standards. Approximately 70%
of the faculty hold M.A. and Ph.D. degrees. The school offers
an extensive and inclusive curriculum taught by a diverse
faculty. The faculty teaches beyond the classroom through
coaching, house counseling, and sponsoring student activities.
Salaries are competitive and benefits include medical,

TEACHING FELLOWS

For recent college or graduate school degree recipients who
have not yet held year-long teaching appointments and who
anticipate careers in teaching, one-year Teaching Fellowships

History of Science. Visiting Assistant Professor for 1995*96,
preference for candidates who can teach undergraduate coursesin the
history of early modern science and technology, and whose research and

survey courses in the development of civilization,
undergraduate and graduate courses in nineteenth century
Europe, Women in Modern European History, and historiography.

19) Position: Fellowship
Institution: Villanova University
Location: Pennsylvania

Villanova University announces three Arthur J. Ennis postdoctoral
fellowships in its Core Humanities Seminar Program. Each is a one
year fellowship renewable for up to three years. These positions
are available as of August 15, 1995. Each holder of the fellowship
will teach three courses in the College of Arts and Sciences' new
interdisciplinary program, Core Humanities Seminar. In addition to
the usual teaching responsibilities, the fellow will also be involved
in the study of the texts, curriculum and pedagogy of the College's
core curriculum with special attention given to the Core Humanities
Seminar sequence. Candidates for these positions should have the
Ph.D. in a humanistic discipline, a strong commitment to under-
graduate teaching in the humanities, an interest (or openness) in
pursuing the influence of Augustine's thought and evidence of
