The CANADIAN JOURNAL OF HISTORY IS PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE THE WINNER
OF THE 1994 CANADIAN JOURNAL OF HISTORY GRADUATE ESSAY PRIZE:

CATHERINE BAIRD, McGILL UNIVERSITY
"Religious Communism? Nikolai Berdyaev's Contribution to Esprit's
Interpretation of Communism". Ms. Baird's article will be
published in the April 1995 issue of the CANADIAN JOURNAL OF
HISTORY.

In 1995 the CANADIAN JOURNAL OF HISTORY will again award the
"Canadian Journal of History Graduate Essay Prize" to the best
entry submitted by a student at a Canadian university or of
Canadian citizenship.

The essay must be based on original research and meet scholarly
standards, and must deal with a non-Canadian historical topic.

The winner will receive $500 and the winning entry will be
published in the CANADIAN JOURNAL OF HISTORY in 1996.

Entries will be judged by the CANADIAN JOURNAL OF HISTORY editors
and board and by outside specialists.

PLEASE ENCOURAGE YOUR STUDENTS TO SUBMIT BEFORE THE DEADLINE

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS: 1 JULY 1995
FORMAT: double-spaced, endnotes or footnotes
LENGTH: approximately 10,000 words (30-40 pages)
COPIES: submit 3 xeroxed copies
