Dr D. A. Gatley of Staffordshire University has been compiling a dataset at
Registration District level for the whole of England and Wales from: the census
data for 1851 and 1861; vital registration data for 1851-55; and the Registrar
General's _Supplement_ to his report in 1861. To date, 116 of 623 registration
districts have been input and some preliminary analysis undertaken, relating,
for example, to employment of married women and rates of illegitimacy related
to age at marriage. In _LPS_ Dr Gatley invites communication about the dataset.
Since he gives in _LPS_ his home address for contact, anyone interested in
communicating with him may check it in _LPS_ rather than posting it on the list.
