You might want to try Tim Harris's article on the Bawdy House Riots
in the Historical Journal, and the broader discussion in his *London Crowds
in the Age of Charles II* There is also a useful discussion of images,
though it does include Charles II's mistresses, in Rachel Weil's essay in
Lynn Hunt's *The Invention of Pornography* Finally there is a recent Oxford
DPhil -- though I have misplaced my notes on it -- discussing issues of
gender in later seventeenth century England. It has a section on
prostituion -- perhaps you could write Bodley. I am fairly certain it was
examined this past Summer.
