Assoc. Prof. Mark Finnane (Griffith University, Brisbane) would be
interested in hearing from any Dublin-based Irish postgraduate students
in History who might be interested in helping him with certain archival
searches in the area of late-19th and early-20th century policing and the
administration of criminal justice. The research relates to a project
studying the comparative decline of interpersonal violence in four common
law systems 1860-1930, Ireland providing one of the case studies.
Experience in working in the National Archives of Ireland will be a
particular advantage. This project is funded by a large grant from the
Australian Research Council 1996-7. Interested applicants should send
their CVs by e-mail to m.finnane@hum.gu.edu.au, by fax to +
617-3875-7848, or by air mail to Faculty of Humanities, Griffith
University, Nathan Campus, Australia, Q4111.
