The attached my be of interest to those visiting your H group. The
American Arts & Crafts movement, as you likely know, was founded off the
English model. Because it combines a discussion forum, and an on going
archive of resources, it is of particular value to academics. If you think
it appropriate, please feel free to announce the A&C web site to your
circle of users.
ANNOUNCE: The Arts & Crafts Society
We're pleased to announce that The Arts & Crafts Society web site is now
online at http://www.arts-crafts.com/. This interactive electronic
community
is dedicated to the philosophy and spirit of the original Arts and Crafts
Movement of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Its guiding principles
include the ideals of discussion, debate, camaraderie, research, craft and
enjoyment. It encourages participation, thoughtful comment, and the
acquisition
of knowledge for all community members and guests.
Created with the same vision as the "Societies" that existed during that
exciting era, The Arts & Crafts Society site provides an on-line "home" for
anyone interested in the Arts and Crafts movement. Please join us in
exploring both the history and present-day activities of the Arts and
Crafts community.
The Arts & Crafts Society contains four main areas:
Archive: An ever-growing compendium of Arts and Crafts related resources,
both historical and current. Photographic/visual images,
bibliographical listings, bios, and compilations all combine to
make this section a unique learning and research experience.
Visitors are encouraged to submit information so that the archive
is as comprehensive as possible.
Events: A comprehensive listing of Arts and Crafts related events from
around the world is available that includes; shows, tours,
exhibitions, lectures, and the like. This section also provides
a form for visitors to submit events for inclusion in the
listings. "American Bungalow" magazine provides content for
this section.
Forum: The "community center" of the site, the "Forum" provides both
discussion groups and a classified ad section. This is the place
to find all those other Arts and Crafts people for topical
discussions, debates and information gathering. Or employ the
classified section to locate just the piece you've been
searching for.
Marketplace: Just as the name implies, the Marketplace is a collection of
Arts and Crafts related merchants, artisans, and specialists,
offering a variety of medium related goods and services. In
many cases, on-line ordering is available.

"It is right and necessary that all men should have work to do which should
be worth doing and be itself pleasant to do; and which should be done under
such conditions as would make it neither overwearisome nor overanxious."
