H-Albion:
I write you seeking aid for an alumni speech I've just gotten roped into
giving. (I owe our Alumni director a favor.) Basically, next week I've
agreed to give a brief presentation at a lunch, for my university's
alumni, on Victorian Christmas customs. While I do a lot of work in
19th-century American women's lives, mostly these are concerned with
missionaries to China, or Kansas frontier women. I'm pretty good on
sod-house and Canton foreign colony stories. But I suspect our alums
would enjoy a few nuggets from the more elite world of High Victorian
Britain (and me, too). So I will be very grateful for any leads to
widely-available sources of information of this sort. With thanks
ahead of time,
Sara Tucker
