I am of course merely a lowly graduate student who doesn't even
have a job yet, but I would urge those who are intelligent and
have a love for history to go ahead and pursue a career, _even_
in British history. These prophesies of doom have a Malthusian
ring. Should those of us who are working on dissertations in
British history give up and commit suicide, or go work as
janitors somewhere?
The key in choosing a graduate program is to largely ignore
issues like the school's name and instead to find a professor
who shares your interests _and is willing to pull for you_,
helping you to build a strong CV and encouraging your love of
the subject.
