In response to W. John Shepard, I'd like to point out that those who were
most badly hit by the L.A. Riots in 1992 were the African-American and
poor Latin communities whose houses, shops and streets were burned out.
Believe me, the largely white residents of Beverley Hills, Marina del
Rey, and BelAir were barely affected by what happened. One friend of mine,
then living in Marina del Rey (an exclusive beach community) spoke of
going for a jog and then an early evening cocktail, all the while watching the
troubles on TV and listening on the personal jogging stereo.
Think again, Mr. Shepard.
