You might consider the films "Blow Up" for 60s scene; "My Beautiful Laundrette"
for post-empire London; and "The Long Good Friday" because it's terrific. For
novels, try Ballard's "Concrete Island" (a neo-Crusoe) or Naipaul's "Mimic Men"
(colonials in the capital). Both are in paperback.
