The Documentation and Training Officer will join the TLTP History
Consortium, which seeks to develop software for teaching history to
undergraduates. TLTP History are both funded by the funding
councils and aim to stimulate the use of computers in history by
providing software, training and supporThe Documentation and
Training Officer will assist the coordinators of both projects
inwith providing training, writing documentation and training
materials, teaching materialsproviding training and with copy
editing computer-based materials, and. The Officer will also assist
the CTI Centre for History, Archaeology and Art History.

Georgia Southern University, a unit of the University System
of Georgia, is the largest and most comprehensive center of
higher education in the southern half of Georgia and is third
in student population among the state's universities. Founded
in 1906, the institution became a regional university on July
1, 1990. The 601-acre campus is located in Statesboro, a
community of approximately 25,000 residents, 50 miles inland
from historic Savannah and 200 miles southeast of Atlanta. The

23) Position: VISITING FELLOWSHIPS 1996-1997
Institution: Princeton University Library
Location: New Jersey
The Friends of the Princeton University Library are sponsoring
several short-term Visiting Fellowships in order to promote
scholarly use of the research collections of the Library. The
Department of Rare Books and Special Collections, housed in the
Harvey S. Firestone Library, has substantial holdings of
materials pertaining to the western world and the Middle East
from antiquity to the present. The Rare Book Division is
especially strong in classical Latin texts, American history and
literature, English history and literature, and French, German,
and Latin American literature. The Manuscript Division holds
medieval and Renaissance manuscripts and codices, and American
and English literary and historical manuscripts. The Visual
materials Division holds the Graphic Arts Collection, the
Collection of Historic maps, the Theatre Collection, and the
Numismatic Collection. The Seeley G. Mudd Manuscript Library
holds the 20th-century Public Policy Papers and the University
Archives. The Marquand Library of Art and Archaeology and the
Gest Oriental Library and East Asian Collections are also located
on the University campus.
The Fellowships, which have a value of $1500 each, are meant to
help defray expenses in traveling to and from Princeton and
residing in Princeton during the tenure of the Fellowship. The
length of the Fellowship will depend on the applicant's research
proposal, but is normally one month. Fellowships are tenable
from May 1996 to April 1997.
There is no special application form. Applicants are asked to
submit a resume and a brief research proposal to Fellowship
Committee, Princeton University Library, Princeton, NJ 08544.
The proposal should address specifically the relevance of the
Princeton University Library Collections to the proposed

24) Position: Fellowships

Gaius Charles Bolin Fellowships
for Minority Graduate Students
1996-97 Academic Year
In 1985 Williams College established the Gaius Charles Bolin Fellowships to
undelrine the importance of encouraging able minority students to pursue
careers in college teaching. The Bolin Fellowships enable two minority
graduate students to devote the bulk of their time during the academic year to
the completion of dissertation work.
Named in honor of its first black graduate, who was admitted to Williams in
1885, the Bolin Fellowships will be awarded to minority students who are
working toward the Ph.D. in the humanities or in the natural, social or
behavioral sciences.
ELEGIBILITY: Applicants must be U.S. citizens, and must have completed all
doctoral work except the dissertation by the end of the current
academic year.
TERMS: The stipend for 1996-97 is $25,000. The College will also
provide housing support and an allowance of up to $2,500 for
expenses.

The University of Oklahoma announces a junior or senior level
Andrew W. Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowship for research and
teaching in the area of the Historical Intersections of the
Biological and Social Sciences. The Fellowship is open to
candidates with doctorates in history, the history of science,
or related fields. The Mellon Fellow will have residence with
the University's History of Science Department and the
University Libraries' History of Science Collections. The
fellowship carries a stipend up to $30,000, with benefits
