I have tried and failed to get any substantial information on this
battle from area libraries. Can someone post back a summary of this
final battle of the War of the Roses? Such as strength and
composition of the opposing forces, tactics used, losses, and
significant men killed in the battle.
I believe that the Earl of Lincoln was killed in action on the rebel's
side. I would like to find out who all the significant englishmen
were who served with the rebels. Another one (Lord Lovett?) apparently
disappeared after the battle and was found two centuries later walled
up in a portion of his family castle! Perhaps he was mortally wounded
but lived long enough to flee to his home. I read that most of the
rebel force consisted of "wild irish kearn" (whatever that means) and
german mercenaries. And it was supposed to have been a hard fought
and close run contest.
