Institution: Whittier College

History--European. The Whittier College history department seeks a
tenure-track colleague at the assistant professor level who can bring the
department competency in early modern or modern European history, with
specialization in France and a secondary field in Russia. Preference will =

given to those with teaching experience or graduate course work in women's
history, world history, and/or comparative history. The department is in t=

History: American/History of Technology. The AT&T Archives
seeks two Post-Doctoral Fellows (degrees in hand) for two year
appointments to research and write a history of manufacturing
at AT&T. Start as soon as possible. Goal: publish a book that
meets scholarly standards while appealing to a general
audience. Candidates must be well versed in history of
technology and American history; business history and oral
history desirable. Superior research and writing skills,

10) Position: DEAN OF FACULTY
Institution: MIYAZAKI INTERNATIONAL COLLEGE

Miyazaki International College (MIC), is a new, small liberal arts
college fully accredited by the Japanese Ministry of Education. =20
MIC prepares Japanese students to be international citizens who are
bilingual and multicultural, and who can critically contribute to an
understanding of world-wide human problems. The curriculum
emphasizes comparative humanities, social sciences, and area
studies. A content-based approach to language development,=20
cooperative and active learning, team teaching, and use of English
as the language of instruction are hallmarks of the program. MIC
makes intensive use of contemporary teaching, library, and computer
resources; faculty and students have full access to the Internet.=20

The Dean provides leadership to an international faculty working
together to build a unique learning environment. The Dean is
responsible for the implementation of the academic program and
educational policies and regulations, faculty recruitment and

content components of the curriculum. The Dean chairs the Faculty
Council and coordinates the work of the Council's committees. The

Candidates should have a doctorate or comparable preparation in a
field related to MIC's academic program, a background in college
teaching, significant administrative experience in an academic
setting, a strong commitment to the critical thinking and language
development goals of the college, and enthusiasm about working in a
collegial environment emphasizing faculty participation in
governance. The search committee will give preference to candidates
with international experience and knowledge of Japanese language
and culture.

Salary is highly competitive and related to experience.
Travel and moving allowances are provided. Miyazaki is a city of
300,000 on the Pacific shore of the subtropical island of Kyushu in
an area of scenic splendor rich in recreational and cultural
opportunities.
