Does anyone know of an anthology/reader to use in a Women in Victorian
England course to replace the out-of-print "Strong-Minded Women," ed.
Janet Murray? The coverage in Bell and Offen, eds., "Women, the Family,
and Freedom" is too diffuse; ditto with Riemer and Fout, eds., "European
Women" and Hellerstein, Hume, and Offen, eds., "Victorian Women." The
closest I have found is Patricia Hollis, ed., "Women in Public," but
the excerpts are too short, and the focus a little narrow. This
would be for an undergraduate history course on women in Victorian
England, in conjuntion with other readings. Since fiction is widely
available, the reader (as with those jsut mentioned) should consist
mostly of non-fiction. Thanks.
