Ms. Stewart's query was forwarded to me by a colleague here at Dalhousie.
I know of no works such as the one to which she inquires after. Most works
on 17th-c. costume are for the costume designer; a couple of these which
are pretty good:
Cunningham's _Handbook of English Costume In the 17thC_ London:Faber 1967
Valerie Cummins _Royal Dress_ London:Batesford 1989
Jennifer Ruby _The Stuarts_ London:Batesford 1988
Elizabeth Ewing _Everyday Dress 1650-1900_London:Batsford 1984
-_400 Years of Fashion_ The Victoria and ALbert Museum 1992 ed.

I apologize for the haste in which I dash this off; I hope it's helpful.
Unfortunately for the historian, the costume designer is less interested in
change than we and seeks a static picture of costume for practical purposes.
The most extensive costume design program in North America flourishes here
at Dalhousie; Lynn Sorge is the name of the director. These folks may be
of more help than anyone here at the history department.
