A graduate student of mine has recently begun editing the MS journals of a
nonconformist minister from Yorkshire who, among many other activities,
made two visits to Paris in the 1820s. Throughout these passages there
appear to be inserted a number of paragraphs taken from guidebooks. Does
anyone on the list know of the whereabouts of any substantial collection of
such guidebooks for English tourists, or even of the authors or titles of
just a few such ephemera and their whereabouts?
