CALL FOR PAPERS
Eighth Biennial University of Texas Historical Symposium

October 12-13, 1995
The University of Texas Historical Symposium Committee announces a
call for papers for the Eighth Biennial University of Texas Historical
Symposium scheduled for October 12-13, 1995. The History graduate students
sponsor this symposium to provide a forum in which to discuss important
contemporary issues facing historians and others engaged in historical
studies.
Graduate students specializing in all fields relative to historical
study, including Area Studies, Anthropology, English, Political Science,
Sociology, Film, Art History, etc., are encouraged to participate. The
Symposium Committee encourages submission of papers on interdisciplinary
subjects. Panel submissions are welcome. Faculty members will chair the
sessions and serve as commentators for the papers. We welcome the
nomination of professors from other departments as co-commentators.
Themes for the symposium panels will be drawn from the abstracts
presented for inclusion on the program. Previous symposiums have included
panels ranging from Explorations in the Medieval World to The Body as Text.
The panels will reflect the diversity of the paperws submitted.
Presentations should be no longer than 15 minutes in length
(approximately 10-12 typed pages) to allow ample time for lively
discussion. please submit a firm title and a brief abstract by June 1,
1995. Final papers will be due before September 1, 1995.
