Scottish Studies at the University of Guelph invites proposals for papers
to be delivered at our annual fall colloquium (tentatively set for Sept.
23). This fall's session is entitled THE HIGHLAND SOLDIER: AT HOME AND
ABROAD. The conference will examine the role of the Highland regiments in
Scotland and the colonies. Special emphasis will be placed on the social
implications of the raising of the regiments, their impact on colonial
life, and the relationship between the regiments and emigration.

Proposals of approximately 500 words and a brief c.v. should be sent to
