In response to your request for information on urban history on the
Internet I've come across the following WWW page developed by Jon
Wallis of the Univ. of Wolverhampton (England).

This page can be reached at http://www.cs.ucl.ac.uk/misc/uk/wolv.html

The page includes a detailed history of urban development between 1827
and 1901. A bibliography on Wolverhampton is included as well as maps
from 1827, 1842, 1884, and 1901. There are also links to information
on historic buildings, parks, and cemeteries.

This page really is about urban history. H-Urban subscribers with an
interest in city directories, churches, public health, and open spaces
should find this useful.

The Wolverhampton web page can also be reached from a touch map of the
UK and Ireland maintained by computer center at University College
London. This map provides links to pages for several other cities,
although much of the focus is on tourist information. The url for the
map is http://www.cs.ucl.ac.uk/misc/uk/intro.html
