15) Position: Woodrow Wilson Center Fellowships
Institution: WOODROW WILSON INTERNATIONAL
CENTER FOR SCHOLARS

Located in the heart of Washington, D.C., the Center awards
approximately 35 residential fellowships each year for advanced
research in the humanities and social sciences. Men and women from
any country and from a wide variety of backgrounds (including
government, the corporate world, the professions, and academe) may

professional accomplishments. Fellows are provided offices, access
to the Library of Congress, computers or manuscript typing
services, and research assistants. The Center publishes selected
works written at the Center through the Woodrow Wilson Center
Press. Fellowships are normally for an academic year. In
determining stipends, the Center follows the principle of no
gain/no loss in terms of a Fellow's previous year's salary.

Historic Preservation: Assistant Director. The John Nicholas
Brown Center seeks an Assistant Director to assume
responsibility for the day-to-day collections management
activities at the 1792 National Historic Landmark
Nightingale-Brown House, including oversight of its archives,
furnishings, buildings, and grounds. The Assistant Director
has primary responsibility for the preparation,
implementation, and effective operation of the Center's
property management plan. The Assistant Director develops
programs to expand educational opportunities for students and
the general public through internships, volunteer activities,

created position which will direct two living history museums,
Jamestown Settlement and Yorktown Victory Center, public

museums attract 540,000 visitors annually. In addition, 30,000
students are provided educational outreach programs throughout
the Commonwealth of Virginia. The professional will direct a
staff of 52 permanent and approximately 120 part-time staff,
student interns, and volunteers. Works closely with the
Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation Board of Trustees and
Educational Trust Board of Directors. Acts for the executive
director in his absence. Qualified applicants will possess
extensive experience in museum administration, management
issues and strategies, and operation of school systems and
other educational institutions; knowledge of educational
programming and evaluation methods; strong communication (oral
and written), organizational and administrative skills;
demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities, supervise
staff, develop and implement budgets, write reports and meet
deadlines. Demonstrated ability to work with all levels of
professionals, management, and staff. Master's degree in

18) Position: Architectural Technician
Institution: Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation
Location: Georgia
Architectural Technician -- The Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation
is seeking an individual to survey, evaluate, and document historic
structures within the National Park system in the Southeast. The position
is based in the National Park Service office in Atlanta with about 25%
travel to the parks. Responsibilities include updating computer database,
establishing and maintaining files on surveyed structures, and assisting
in preparing National Register documentation and historic resource
studies. This is a full-time term position expected to last 12 to 18
months.
Candidates must have:
A master's degree in Architectural/Art History, Historic
Preservation, or History;
Demonstrated knowledge of American architecture, including
vernacular types;
Experience conducting architectural surveys; and
Experience preparing National Register nominations or comparable
documentation.
Strong research and writing skills are essential.
Salary: mid 20s plus standard benefits available to Georgia Trust
employees. Employee will be responsible for any expenses involved in
relocating to Atlanta.

20) Position: Vice Provost

Vice Provost for Information and Dean of University Libraries
Duties and Responsibilities. Responsible for planning, coordination and
leadership for the University's academic information resources, including
University Libraries, the Academic Computer Center, and the Audiovisual
Center in support of the University's mission in instruction, research, and
academic outreach. Assure a service orientation and coordination of campus
resources, planned change, and continuous improvement. Lead the University
Libraries and academic computing in cooperating with other Rhode Island and
New England academic and research partners. The Vice Provost will report
to the Provost and will be a member of the Provost's staff and the Council
of Deans.
Required Qualifications. The successful candidate will demonstrate an
understanding of the mission, role, and operations of libraries, academic
computing, and information technologies, with significant prior experience
in at least one of these areas; have a record of accomplishments sufficient
for the position of vice provost/dean; demonstrated ability to further the
goals of the library, computing, audiovisual technologies, and information
technologies to support the teaching and research of the faculty and the
learning outcomes of students; have five or more years of successful
administrative experience in a complex environment; demonstrate excellent
interpersonal and communication skills; and hold an advanced degree,
preferably one relevant to the position (e.g., MLS, or Ph.D.)
This is a newly configured position, reflecting the University's commitment
to the centrality of information and libraries to the fulfillment of its
mission; the successful candidate will have the opportunity to help shape
the agenda.
