Queen Elizabeth in 1599 wished to impress the Sultan of Turkey by sending
a gift - an organ built by Thomas Dallam. This story is recounted in
Stanley Mayes' AN ORGAN FOR THE SULTAN, London, Putnam, 1956.
Does anyone know of any other accounts of this episode that was
recorded by Dallam's diary?
Any possible sources to obtain a copy of this book at a reasonable
price?
Other references to the organs built by the Dallam family?
What would be the demand for organ builders after the English Civil War?
Would this explain Thomas' grandson in MD by 1670?
