Profound apologies for the garbage which I sent to the list on this subject. I
meant to abandon one of the postings, but in the process sent it and then
another without a subject heading. The point I want to ask is this: would
Susan Amussen or anyone else (David Cressy, David Sacks, Robert Tittler or
whoever) like to give us more insights into the literature on early modern
England/Britain that has been informed by anthropology/sociology, if this is
within the parameters of the original question -- issues of life-cycle,
rites de passage, ceremony/ritual/symbolism etc. ? It would be helpful to me
to keep track of these matters, and I hope to others too, and it is an area
which has profitted greatly from N. American scholarship.
Renewed apologies,
Dave Postles
