Location: Pennsylvania

History: The Department of History at Albright College invites
applications for a two-year position in Modern European
history, to begin August 26, 1995. Candidates should bring to
Albright a broad preparation in Modern Europe, a Ph.D. in hand
by September 1, evidence of scholarly promise, the versatility
to offer an introductory survey in Ancient Civilizations and a
course in a secondary field, and, above all a commitment to
effective undergraduate teaching in a residential liberal arts
college. A teaching load of three courses per semester will
include survey and upper level courses for both general
studies students and a growing number of history majors, a
first-year seminar and possibly interdisciplinary
collaboration. Located on a suburban campus one hour from
Philadelphia and three hours from New York and Washington,
Albright continues to recruit a diverse student body and, as

Institution: Presbyterian Historical Society

Applications are invited for editor of *American Presbyterians: Journal of
Presbyterian History*, the quarterly journal of the Presbyterian Historical
Society. The incumbent is one of two senior editors who determines the
journal's content. Specific duties include: soliciting manuscripts; advising
authors about topics and revisions; soliciting reviews; and writing editorial
features.

Requirements: graduate degree in American church history, preferably a
doctorate; 3 years experience in historical editing; knowledge of American
Presbyterian and Reformed history; publications in American Presbyterian
history; experience at a Presbyterian seminary or college an asset.

16) Position: Keeper of Manuscripts

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Keeper of Manuscripts is responsible for the
building, processing, preserving and making available to library
users the unique, rare, manuscript and arhcival collections of the
Division of Special Collections and Archives. The Keeper performs or
supervises all tasks related to the acquisition, accession,
appraisal, arrangement, description, cataloging and determination of
appropriate preservation/conservation activities for the manuscript
holdings of the Division. As a professional member of the staff of
Special Collections and Archives, the Keeper is expected to provide
reference service to patrons of the entire Division. The successful
candidate is expected to publish or present on an annual basis a
paper or oral presentation and to participate in professional and
scholarly societies and in such library, learning resources, or
university committees and activities, as may be assigned. The Keeper
of Manuscripts reports directly to the Curator of Special Collections
and Archives.

QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates should offer a strong potential in and a
demonstrated commitment to the archival profession and especially
manuscripts and special collections
Required:
1- A Master's Degree in History with additional study preferred,
including graduate courses in archives or mauscripts administration.
2- Minimum of two years archival experience in a manuscripts
repository, or training in a reputable archival program.
3- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills
4- Demonstrated scholarly activity and production.
5- Demonstrated capacity to work effectively and
congenially with faculty, students and staff.
Preferred:
1- Knowledge of Utah, Idaho and Mormon History.
2- Knowledge and understanding of issues and trends facing
archives and manuscripts in the research library environment.

SALARY: $24,000 minimum for 12-month contract.

CONTRACT: Faculty status, tenure track with TIAA/CREF retirement plan
contributed 100% by the University, 22 days annual leave, and
