I am currently a doctoral student at the University of Alabama, and I
am planning on taking a class on Tudor and Stuart England in the fall
semester. I haven't studied extensviely in this field for quite a long
time, and I would like to do quite a bit of reading to prepare myself
for this class over the summer.

What I am looking for from the members of the list are suggestions for
a reading list. I remember some of the big names from when I was an
undergraduate (Tawney, Hexter, Stone, Elton), but need help identifying
specific titles from the standard authors as well as ideas about more
recent authors and titles in this area.

My background in history is French and English medieval, although my
current project deals with history of the book, particulary in England.

Please respond to me off list so as not to clutter up the list.

Thanks.
