A number of people were kind enough to respond to my previous query
concerning a new edition of *Sources of the African Past*. I may
have a publisher interested in bringing out a new edition with
minimal changes; the formatting and presentation would be better, and
I would update the bibliographies, but not add any new chapters or
change the narrative; some better illustrations. And, should this
happen, the book would be marketed with a slide-tape set, which has
existed for 15 years and is produced by Michigan State's
Instructional Media Center (5 sets of 30+ slides for each chapter,
with a short guide).
I would like to know, for purposes of showing the potential market
out there, who would use it and any advice you have about this
minimal revision process, for those who know it and have used it.
Specifically, do you think you, and others you know, might use it on
a regular basis? Might your institution purchase a slide-tape set
for some $225 as well?
I would be grateful for this response, and it could make a
difference in whether the volume gets published again.
