The invaluable reference work for all kinds of pre-metric measures
is Horace Doursther, *Dictionaire universel des poids et
measures, anciens et modern*. It was first published in 1840, but it
was reprinted in 1945 by Meridian Publishing Co, P. O. Box 40621,
Amsterdam, Holland. They may have kept it in print.
