On celestial mapmaking, calendars, and directions (soltices,
equinoxes, etc) the astronomical site at Nomeratura in northern Kenya
is important. It is basically a Stonehenge-like arrangement of
stones (not as big in terms of the stones, but it is a significantly
large site) that corresponds to Cushitic calendar systems. Several
articles and studies have appeared on it in the 1970s and 1980s. It
also mirrors several constellations, etc.
